Third Thursdays
Our Third Thursday morning sessions offer USR seniors the opportunity to gather at the USR library to connect and enjoy each other's company - these days will include speakers, presentations, games and other activities - all designed and offered based on feedback we receive from the group. We host the group and provide a mid-morning snack during these events offered from 10:00am until noon on the third Thursday of each month. Please mark your calendars to join us for these sessions and check back for details. We will update the calendar with descriptions of each month’s program.

Oktoberfest 2023
The Borough of Upper Saddle River and USR Cares present Oktoberfest Oktoberfest 2023.

Oktoberfest 2021
In 2021 Diane Cookson, a prominent Real Estate Agent, and resident joined Shop Rite as a Grand Sponsor. We changed the theme to International Food & Culture and added flags throughout the grounds.

Senior Covid Vaccinations
One of our volunteers assisted many seniors in getting vaccine appointments when they became available.

Upper Saddle River Got Talent 2020
In 2020 Oktoberfest was canceled so instead we hosted Upper Saddle River’ Got Talent and put the spotlight on our talented residents! We also showcased our clubs & select businesses.

Senior Sunshine Visit
In May 2020 amid the panic of Covid, we launched the Senior Sunshine Visits and delivered fresh bread & rolls, jelly & a flowering plant to 125 senior residents. We introduced ourselves and offered services such as grocery shipping and deliveries.

Oktoberfest 2019
2019 Shop Rite was our Grand Sponsor and we added a Car Show. Oktoberfest continues to draw the entire community to come out and meet their neighbors. Defiant Brewery continues to host the Biergarten with a variety of craft beers.

Oktoberfest 2018
2018 welcomed two Girl Scout Gold Award projects. A dedicated Senior Tent was added to the event. There were also several Silver Award projects and a Family Fun Tent that was staffed with Girl Scout Volunteers.

Oktoberfest 2017
The first year USR Cares hosted Oktoberfest. The organization was founded for Denise Casolino who passed away in January of the same year. The community came together and the organization was formally launched as an organization that was poised to help residents in crisis.
